Clickbait is an educational board game that teaches players about media literacy through fun and creative gameplay. In this game, players learn how images, headlines, and online content influence our thinking, while being challenged to create their own “media messages” using visual prompts. Designed to encourage critical thinking and awareness, Clickbait helps players understand how information is shaped, shared, and sometimes manipulated in the media. Suitable for students, families, and general audiences, this board game turns learning about media into an enjoyable and interactive experience.
THE MAKING OF CLICKBAIT IN 2024
Clickbait was created by a group of students who wanted to address the growing issue of misinformation and media influence in everyday life, especially among young people. Inspired by discussions about trending online content and the impact of sensational headlines, the team developed a board game that could make media literacy fun and accessible. The idea began after being introduced to locally produced educational games and seeing how games can be powerful learning tools. With guidance from mentors and support from RDC and Eureka Hub, Clickbait was designed, tested, and refined—combining Sabahan creativity with educational purpose. The project represents collaboration, innovation, and the belief that learning about media should be enjoyable for everyone.
MEET THE CLICKBAIT TEAM
Clickbait was developed by a passionate group of students guided by an experienced mentor. The project began with a simple idea, to make media literacy fun, interactive and grew into a fully developed educational board game thanks to the collaboration of this talented team.
Danniel contributed to the development of the game components, ensuring each part of Clickbait was designed with purpose and functionality. Mr. Khalifa Affnan, our project advisor, provided crucial guidance and direction throughout the entire process. Danish, the strategist behind the game mechanism, played a key role in shaping how the game works and how players interact with each challenge. Finally, Elisha, the team leader, developed the original concept for Clickbait and organised the team’s work from start to finish.
Together, this team combined creativity, strategy, and strong collaboration to bring Clickbait to life as an educational tool for media literacy.
