Briefing video
Very close to the surface of the earth, if there are no other forces except for the gravitational force, every free-falling object is supposed to fall at the same rate irrespective of its mass and size, with the help of an acoustic stopwatch to measure the falling time, you are going to use the free fall concept to determine the acceleration due to gravity.
Determine the gravitational acceleration near the surface of the earth
Faber-Castle click pen
Phypox App - Acoustic Stopwatch
Paper clip
CLICK PEN
PHYPHOX APP
PAPER CLIP
You are going an acoustic stopwatch from Phyphox application, acoustic stopwatch means that it uses sound as a start and stop trigger
Attach the paper clip to the end of the clicker pen (ballpoint end)
Set the falling height of the paper clip from the floor
When you release the click pen, the sound from the released will trigger the start of the timer
When the clip fall onto the floor, the sound it makes will trigger the stop of the timer
Thus, the timer will give you the falling time of the paper clip
Record the measurement in the table
Use appropriate equation graphing tools to analyze your result.
State the significance of your findings.
