As part of the pre-course activity, Dr. Faisal asked us to introduce ourselves and respond to three reflective prompts based on our own perspectives. We were invited to share our expectations for the course, our current understanding of the Modified Teaching for Flipped Learning (MTFL) approach, and one concern or question about implementing it in our own classrooms. This activity encouraged me to reflect on my prior knowledge and consider the realities of applying flipped learning in my teaching context.
Pre-Course Reflection
Hello everyone. My name is Miss Syuha from Johor, and this is my third course at ELTC. I joined this course with high expectations, as Dr. Faisal briefly introduced the concept of MTFL during a previous programme, which sparked my interest in learning more.
From my current understanding, MTFL (Modified Flipped Learning) is an approach where pupils come to class with the basic knowledge already acquired. They gain this knowledge through learning materials provided by the teacher or by exploring relevant resources independently before the lesson. This allows classroom time to focus on discussion, collaboration, and deeper learning rather than direct instruction.
One concern I have about implementing flipped learning is accessibility. As I teach in a FELDA school, many of my pupils have limited access to digital devices and the internet. I hope this course will equip me with practical strategies to adapt flipped learning so that it remains inclusive and effective, even in a low-resource learning environment.
