DATABASE FUNDAMENTAL
Introduction to the Database Subject
The Database subject is one of the key components in the Computer Science Stream at the matriculation level. This course is introduced to provide students with an early exposure to the basic concepts of data management and handling in a systematic and structured manner. In today’s digital era, skills in designing, building, and managing databases are crucial to support the development of efficient and effective information systems.
Throughout the course, students will be introduced to database models, the SQL (Structured Query Language) programming language, and basic techniques for designing databases such as entity-relationship (E-R) diagrams. Emphasis is also placed on data normalization, query handling, and practical applications of databases in real-world scenarios.
Mastery of this subject will provide a strong foundation for students to pursue further studies in fields such as information technology, software engineering, information systems, and other branches of Computer Science at higher levels.
