Teacher Voon Sze Ling received the award of Anugerah Guru Hebat Bahasa in conjunction with the 51th Sarawak State Teachers’ Day Celebration on 17th August 2022 in Limbang.
Teacher Voon Sze Ling was awarded Anugerah Guru Pedagogi Teladan in conjunction with Kuching District Teachers’ Day Appreciation Ceremony on 24th August 2022 at IPG Kampus Batu Lintang.
Madam Voon Sze Ling participated in this activity to share her teaching and learning tool across the academic and corporate learning divides. Her short, funny but engaging and illuminating video provides a method to teach and learn in a wider, more open and accessible manner.
The department is also building a professional learning community recognise that they must work together to achieve their collective purpose of learning for all. Therefore, they create structures to promote a collaborative culture.
The powerful collaboration that characterize professional learning communities is a systematic process in which teachers work together to analyse and improve their classroom practice. Teachers work in teams, engaging in an ongoing cycle of questions that promote deep team learning. This process, in turn, leads to higher levels of student achievement.
Teachers used to work together to plan a unit of instruction to meeting specific student learning goals. Once the lesson is designed, one teacher implements the lesson in their class while the other members of the group observe. Finally, the group comes together to reflect on the lesson and how it could be revised for the other members or how it could be applied to subsequent lessons in the unit.
In-house training is conducted to enhance teaching approaches, lessons and materials to suit the differing needs and abilities of pupils. In line with the government's policy on strengthening English, teachers are equipped with the latest curriculum development.
To upgrade teachers' professionalism on ICT literacy, we invited Mr Wee Yin San to conduct Google-Based Learning Course. The aim of this course is to allow teachers to use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environment.
The school invited two officers from District Education Office Kuching, Mr Felix Chou Sing Tiing and Madam Derosita Chok Mung Na to conduct Google Apps application. This enable teachers to design, develop and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessment, incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to utilize ICT.
The school uses to conduct ongoing training and development program or workshop, which allows teachers to find and address any weaknesses helping to be more all-rounded and better skilled at every factor of their profession. Training and development can help to increase teachers' confidence within their role.
The ongoing training is important for teachers to enhance their skills and upgrade their existing knowledge in order to perform better as well as aware of the latest developments. Besides, it also important not only for professional but also personal growth, which will prepare individuals for adverse conditions and unforseen situations.
The 2nd Panitia meeting is conducted on 24th May 2021 using Google Meet. It is successfully carried out to discuss activities, problems and solutions.
