I currently teach 1st grade bilingual education at Talcott Fine Arts and Museum Academy.
I first learned about the Modern Classrooms Project from my administrator. I became a Distinguished Modern Classroom Educator in 2023.
One thing I love about MCP is as I plan for must-do, should-do, and aspire-to-do activities, I can engage students in broader and deeper learning rather than memorization or rote practice. The Modern Classroom framework has positively impacted my students' learning and their learner identities. I can hear students referencing their goals, progress, and activities to support and show their learning. Furthermore, my students have become more independent learners who persevere when work becomes more difficult. They like to be challenged and take ownership of their learning. They say, "Can we do another one?" or "Can you write me a math challenge?" They take pride in themselves and discuss how they persevere to overcome struggles.
When not at school, you can find me reading education books and watching foreign movies.
