In language class, we have four skills to work on: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. Therefore being able to collaborate is essential to being successful in language class. In addition, if we are being mindful of building a learning community where students feel comfortable and safe to express themselves, then the collaboration will show naturally.
One-on-one instruction: I plan this on my calendar to have one-on-one time with each student at least every two weeks. Overall, I do more one-on-one with students who are not achieving their highest potential based on the work they completed/not completed.
Small-group instruction: I usually don’t do small-group instructions, and I prefer doing more one-on-ones
Whole-group instruction: We use whole-group instruction very often in a language class, usually for whole-class discussion, problem-solving together, and having students share aloud their responses and provide feedback to each other.
When adopting MCP, remember that you don't have to strive for perfection. Begin by focusing on the aspect that you find most enjoyable or interesting. Taking small steps and gradually expanding your implementation will help you embrace MCP more effectively.
