- Attend professional conferences:
I tried to attend the national conferences on social work and gerontology (e.g., CSWE, SSWR, and GSA Annual Conferences.) each year (except for 2020) to update my knowledge in the development of the field, improve my research skills, and to build professional networks. I also make my efforts to attend local conferences organized. For instance, I attended the "Culturally Inclusive Care: Urban Health Perspective Conference" held by the UTC's nursing school in February 2019.
- Attended the Grants Development Workshops:
To enhance my skills of grant writing, I attended the two-day Grant Workshop organized by the Office of Research and Sponsored Program at the UTC. (May 10th and 11st, 2022); I also attended the Grant Writing Webinar Series organized by National Institute of Health (Webinar 1 - Before Writing: Faculty Readiness and Submission Considerations, 08/16/22; Webinar 2 – Determining Whether a Funding Opportunity is Right for You, 9/26/22; Webinar 3 – Writing a Competitive Application, 11/01/22)
- Attended Other Webinars related to Aging and health disparity:
I also attended several webinars organized by the Gerontological Society of America (e.g., "Equity, Justice, and Inclusion for Older Workers" "Enhancing Economic Security for Older Low-Wage Workers" "The Art of Engaging Older Adults in Research", etc.). I also participated in workshops/conferences organized by the local organizations/institutions (e.g., Heath Disparities Workshop by Alzheimer's Association)
- Attended workshops to improve my statistical analysis skills:
To improve my knowledge and skills on statistical analysis software, I attended the R coding bootcamps in July 2019. The boot camp taught students how to write syntax in a free software R and analyze and visualize data using R. I also attended many webinars offered by STATA company to improve my statistical analytic skills using STATA(e.g., "Time-series commands in Stata", "Structural equation modeling using Stata", "Performing multivariate meta-analysis in Stata", "Bayesian multilevel modeling in Stata", etc.).
