Glenville-Emmons School District Bond Referendum Unsuccessful

On August 12, voters in the Glenville-Emmons School District voted not to approve the district’s proposed $24,425,000 bond referendum to address long-standing facility needs at both the elementary and high school buildings.

Following the vote, the unofficial election results are: 501 YES (45%) and 615 NO (55%).

The proposed plan focused on critical deferred maintenance projects—including roof replacements, HVAC system upgrades, asbestos removal, ADA improvements, and enhanced safety features. It was shaped through extensive feedback following the 2023 vote and reviewed by the Minnesota Department of Education.

Superintendent Heidi Venem shared her appreciation for voter engagement and the community’s continued interest:

"We are deeply grateful to everyone who took the time to learn about the referendum and cast a vote. No matter the outcome, this shows how much people care about our schools and community. We’ll continue working with our board, staff, and residents to determine next steps to ensure students learn in safe, healthy spaces."

Despite the unsuccessful referendum, the Glenville-Emmons School District remains committed to finding solutions to address the pressing needs of our school facilities.
