Beginning Strings
Zero (0) years of experience. Curricular
This ensemble is for beginning to advanced beginning string instrumentalist. This course meets daily. Beginning Orchestra utilizes the method book Sound Innovations Book 1, Sound Development, and other supplemental instruction materials. Students will sight-read and perform music rated at .5-2 difficulty level. Interest and questions should be directed to the Performing Arts Department. Private lessons are encouraged for this course but not required. This course does require attendance outside of the school day for rehearsals and performances.
Intermediate Orchestra
One (1) to Three (3) years of experience. Curricular
This ensemble is for advanced beginning to intermediate string instrumentalist. This course meets daily. Intermediate Orchestra utilizes the method book Sound Innovations Book 1 and Book 2 as well as Creative Warms and Sound Development. Students will sight-read and perform music rated at 1.5-3 difficulty level. Interest and questions should be directed to the Performing Arts Department. Private lessons are encouraged for this course but not required. This course does require attendance outside of the school day for rehearsals and performances.
Advanced Orchestra
Four (4) plus years of experience. Extracurricular or Curricular
This ensemble is for advanced string instrumentalists. Wind and percussion instrumentalists are welcome to join as well, however daily attendance is not fully required. This course meets after school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:15-5:15. Advanced Orchestra utilizes the method books Sound Innovations Creative Warm-ups and Sound Development. Students will sight-read and perform music at the MSHSL levels of Class III and above. Attendance will be mandatory at all rehearsals to get credit recognition. Interest and questions should be directed to the Performing Arts Department. Private lessons are encouraged for this course but not required. This course does require attendance outside of the school day for rehearsals and performances.
Instrument Rentals
MSA does not have a supply of instruments to provide for their students. Students wishing to play an instrument should contact Eckroth Music or Schmitt Music to set up a rental for the school year.
