Mr. Sletten received his B.S. in Music Education, Instrumental Music from St. Cloud State University in 2010. He student taught at Moorhead Area Public Schools; general music and orchestra. His career started in rural Western Minnesota teaching general music (K-6), 5-12 band, and 7-12 choir. He later moved to North Central Minnesota where he taught 5-12 band and directed the pep band, jazz band and the pit orchestra for the school musicals. After moving to the Southern Suburbs, Mr. Sletten taught middle school orchestra prior to accepting his position at MSA.
Mr. Sletten enjoys music and is in fact a classical/romantic nerd! He played French horn throughout high school and later picked up the cello in college. His hobbies include gardening, making crafts, friend and family gatherings, as well as baking, cooking and grilling.
Mrs. Luedtke is a trained music educator, licensed to teach K-12, and experienced in teaching general, vocal, and instrumental music individually (private lessons) and in small and large groups, ages 4-99! She has taught in public, private, magnet, and charter schools, and loves helping students find their purpose and follow their passions. She first received her B.A. in Psychology and Religion from the College of William and Mary in 1996. She had the opportunity to serve as the music director for a student production of Fiddler on the Roof in her final semester, and fell in love with teaching. A lover of education, she went back for another degree shortly thereafter, and received a B.M. in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2003. Incidentally, she also has an M.A. from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, and serves part-time in ministry.
When not teaching or studying, Mrs. Luedtke enjoys camping, hiking, training for triathlons, and reading science fiction.
Karen received her B.S. in Communication Studies and Theatre Arts from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 2011. Since graduation, she has worked as a director, performer and teaching artist in the Twin Cities, places including Ashland Productions, Lakeshore Players, Mahtomedi High School, The Phipps Center for the Arts, Lakeshore Players and St. Mark's Drama Ministry. Karen has been a theatre director at MSA since 2017.
Karen lives in St. Paul, and when not in rehearsal, she enjoys working on house projects, going to see live theatre, playing the piano, doing macrame and other crafts, and spending time with her family and friends.
