The end of September is upon us and we are starting to feel the change in weather. Camels Hump had a great start to the school year. We continue to see students making new connections with peers and adults and creating a true sense of belonging. We’ve been enjoying our new approach to advisory and the new bonds that are forming between students in different grades has been authentic, meaningful and positive. We are also seeing this through our fall sports teams and the club meetings that started last week. Students are trying out new opportunities and smiling through it all. It has truly been a joyful September.

Many teams have been extending their connections to community members and organizations through various field trips this month. From visiting ECHO to the Birds of Vermont Museum to wastewater treatment facilities and state parks, teachers and students are interacting and learning from their local community and environment. The learning has been rich, engaging and memorable.

This month we also completed our required safety drills including a fire drill and options-based drill. Teachers took the time to review common instructional safety slides with all students, teaching exit routes and how to respond to different safety commands. Students responded well and demonstrated they understand the importance of school safety.

Lastly, students were sent home with school picture order forms. We recognized that there was a mistake on the order forms in regards to the dates. The correct dates for school pictures are: Grades 6 and 8 on Tuesday, October 6th and grades 5 and 7 on Thursday, October 8.  The rain date is Friday, October 9th.
