Bernier's 3-4 Newsletter

February 6, 2026
The past two weeks have been full of exciting experiences, both in and out of the classroom. Students have been skiing and snowboarding at Cochran’s, where they practiced skills, built confidence, and enjoyed time outdoors. We also took a special trip to the Flynn Theater in Burlington to see Cirque Mechanics: Tilt. The show was packed with incredible stunts and creative storytelling. Be sure to ask your child about some of the amazing feats we saw.
Back in the classroom, students have been hard at work finishing their weather related books. They recently completed the writing process, including editing, revising, and giving and receiving peer feedback, and the final copies have been printed. Your child will be bringing their book home within the next week, and we are so proud of their effort and growth as writers.
Students are also working in small groups on specific word study skills and are spending time reading and writing to apply what they are learning. These skills connect nicely to our writing work and help strengthen their overall literacy development.
Looking ahead, over the next couple of weeks we will be learning more about the Winter Olympics. We will be following Team USA and tracking medals as we connect real world events to our learning.
Thank you for your continued support. We are excited for what is ahead.
Girls On The Run-Coaches Needed!
Have a Cool Job and Want to Share it?
Our class was recently inspired by Becky Bulaga, who came to talk about her job at Ben & Jerry’s as an Associate Brand Manager for US Innovation. Even more fun, we got to do ice cream taste-testing, which made learning about her job even more exciting and inspiring! 🍦
This got us thinking—there are so many cool jobs out there, and we’d love to learn more about them. If you have a job that you think would be fun or interesting to share with our class, we would be thrilled to have you come and talk about it. It’s a great way for students to see all the different possibilities in the world!
If you’re interested in visiting our class and sharing about your work, please reach out to Mrs. Bernier.
We can’t wait to hear from you!
⛷️Snowmotion🏂
This is a reminder that Snowmotion begins next Thursday, 1/29 at Cochran’s. 3rd and 4th grade students will be on the slopes from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Snowmotion will run on the following dates
2/12
2/19
Please be sure to send your child to school with proper winter clothing suitable for being outside on the slopes, including warm layers, warm socks, gloves or mittens, hats, and snow pants.
Thank you for your support. We’re looking forward to a great Snowmotion season!
♥️Valentine's Day♥️
I have sent home a Valentine's Day class list. We will have a celebration as a class on Friday, February 13th. If your child plans to bring Valentine's to school, please send one for each child in the class. Â
Photo Sharing📸
Since we’re no longer able to use Instagram for classroom updates, I’ll be sharing photos through a Google Photos folder instead. You can visit the album to see pictures from our daily activities and special moments at school.
Classroom Treats
On occasion, we might give students trident gum, tic tacs, lifesavers mints, hot cocoa, popcorn, or hershey's milk chocolate for something fun. As part of the district health protocols, we need to notify you of this. Please reach out to me if your child will need to opt out of this. Â
Spook Squad Update
In the Fall, your child had the opportunity to participate in a writing contest called The Spook Squad. If your child participated, they have brought home an envelope with information about how to get their writing published. For your child's writing to be included, a parent needs to give permission. You do not need to order a book for their writing to be included. We will get a class copy. Â
