During the last week of November 2025, Cyclone Ditwah made landfall in Sri Lanka. With at least 647 deaths, 183 missing, and over 1.6 billion USD in damage, it was the deadliest natural disaster on the island since the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami. Hundreds to thousands of families were left displaced, and many were in need of urgent help. The Muthamizh Munnettra Mandram (MMM), a Tamil community center based in New York, answered the call. Since our establishment in 2015, we have repeatedly rallied and fundraised in New York and beyond to assist the short-term and long-term needs of the island we call our motherland. This time, our resolve has paved the way for resounding success.
