Contributor Biographies

Cedrah Abdulrahman, 12th grade, likes to mix 3D and 2D mediums and create something new and original.  She likes to incorporate abstract and pretty aspects of things, and rarely creates serious pieces. She loves the unexpected aspect of art. She is inspired by people finding her art entertaining. In Cedrah’s free time, she likes to create art, play the trumpet, contribute to theater, go on trips with friends, and try new things.

Jeremy Arias, 9th grade, likes to draw traditional sketches, mostly depicting people. He is inspired by the way that his art can move people emotionally. In Jeremy's free time, he likes to play sports, play games, and draw. 

Yoreimy Aponte, 11th grade, likes to write because it gives her the opportunity to research topics that she finds interesting and wants to learn more about. She is inspired to create by curiosity and the love and passion she has for things she loves. In her free time, Yoreimy likes to hang out with friends, swim, study the bible, and listen to music. 

Marlow Basalyga, 9th grade, likes to create artworks of wildlife and nature, mostly by utilizing the watercolor medium. She is inspired by friends and family, along with public figures that she looks up to. In Marlow's free time, she likes to watch shows, watch musicals, and hang out with friends. 

Isabella DeStefano, 10th grade, likes to make crafts, sketch, and paint. She also enjoys composing music and writing poems. She is inspired by abstract ideas that cannot be fully explained through words. In Isabella’s free time, she likes to improve on crafts, listen to music, discover new movies, and hang out with friends. 

Jozef Dovicak, 12th grade, likes to make little projects that involve things that he finds interesting. He is inspired by the motivation of the question “what if?”. In Jozef’s free time, he likes to work out, go on walks, and live in the moment. 

Isaac Edmonds, 10th grade, likes to write about people, usually focusing specifically on personal relationships or the details of the world they inhabit. He rarely makes visual art, but when he does, he likes to make sketchy, bright, and stylized pieces. Love for the world and people in his life inspires him to create, as well as admiration for the amount of beautiful art throughout the world. In Isaac’s free time, he likes to read, sleep, watch sci-fi movies, and annoy his friends.

Kayleigh Erickson, 10th grade, likes writing poetry, mostly emotional pieces and works that delve into the subject of femininity and womanhood. The desire to move others with emotions and raise awareness is what inspires her to write. Kayleigh spends her free time drawing, playing games, and watching movies. 

JT Ferry, 12th grade, likes to make visual art and take photographs. He is inspired by his mother, an art teacher, who has raised him to appreciate art. In JT’s free time, he likes to race micro-sprints, hang out with friends, and play games.

Eliza Garcia, 11th grade, likes to create music, write short stories, and transcribe music. She is inspired to create by the end result of projects, whether it's a story coming together or hearing music come into alignment. In Eliza’s free time, she likes to play the saxophone, read, bake, listen to music, play video games, or assemble puzzles. 

Katelyn Gera, 11th grade, likes drawing things that she’s currently interested in. Current events, experiencing new places, and interests inspire her to create. In Katelyn’s free time, she likes to read, draw, run, and play video games. 

Andrea Jimenez, 12th grade, likes to make dark art that most don't understand at first glance, but end up loving. Creating calms her, and she is inspired by the joy she gets from creating something new. In Andrea’s free time, she likes to make art, sing, and write creative stories.

Chris Laverty, 12th grade, likes to write screenplays, short stories, direct films, and direct cinematography. He is inspired by world events and other movies and filmmakers. In Chris’s free time, he likes to hang out with friends, watch movies and shows, and play video games. 

Maia Laverty, 10th grade, likes to write short stories and poems about things she feels passionate about, like world events and societal issues. She is inspired by the people and things around her. In Maia’s free time, she likes to play video games, watch shows and movies, read, and spend time with friends.  

Mikaela Mauna, 9th grade, likes to create semi-abstract digital art pieces. She also occasionally draws and paints traditionally. She is inspired by the media and ideas she is interested in. In Mikaela's free time, she likes to hang out with friends, watch movies, and enjoy nature.

Ashley Mendoza, 9th grade, likes to create visual art that expresses events and emotions, mostly by using watercolor. She is inspired by emotions and nature. In Ashley’s free time, she likes to be with friends and family, draw, and journal.

Momin Muhammad, 9th grade, likes photography and visual art. He is inspired by nature and landmarks, and is especially inspired when he goes on trips or to scenic areas. In Momin’s free time, he likes to play games, stay physically active, and take photos.

Zachary Naugle, 10th grade, likes to create realistic visual art and likes being able to be immersed in it. He also occasionally creates abstract and multi-media pieces. He is inspired by everyday things and seeing other artists’ work. In Zach’s free time, he likes to draw, paint, and try new things. 

Ellie Onufer, 9th grade, likes to create for the rewarding feeling of completing an art piece. She is inspired by seeing her sister’s talent for art and wanting to try out her own skills. In Ellie’s free time, she likes to spend time with family and friends, play games, watch TV, and draw. 

Shreeya Parikh, 10th grade, likes to create art through photography, especially pictures that capture a special moment. She likes taking pictures that may look simple, but the lighting and scenery make them interesting. She is inspired by quiet and peaceful moments and turning them into something creative that holds meaning. In Shreeya’s free time, she likes to listen to music, play piano, play sports, and paint. 

Justin Park, 10th grade, likes to write stories with darker themes to express realism and depth. He also likes drawing for the satisfaction of improving. He is inspired by other people’s work, such as his favorite authors and illustrators. In Justin’s free time, he likes to draw, play piano, and learn new things. 

Bianca Perez Serrano, 10th grade, likes to write poems because they let her say a lot, without saying too much. Poetry gives her space to focus on feeling and detail, instead of long explanations. For her, poems feel honest and direct, even when they are simple. Bianca creates because it helps her make sense of things that do not sit right, and writing lets her examine that more closely. In her free time, Bianca likes to play basketball, draw, and listen to music. 

Xavier Reymunde, 10th grade, likes to write fiction for enjoyment. Nothing in particular inspires him to write; he just likes to create fun, expressive stories. In Xavier’s free time, he likes to play sports, especially soccer. 

Jared Santana, 10th grade, likes to create highly descriptive and visually stimulating works. He is inspired by the world around him, whether it is nature, people, or emotion. In Jared’s free time, he likes to be physically active and play guitar. 

Sophie Schulz, 9th grade, likes to create visual art pieces, especially using paint. She is inspired by shows and media that she is interested in. In Sophie’s free time, she likes to watch shows, hang out with friends, play tennis, and draw. 

Erica Schwear, 12th grade, likes to create whimsical and abstract pieces. Her emotions drive her to create. In Erica’s free time, she likes to play multiple sports, including soccer, volleyball, softball, and cheerleading. She also likes to paint, listen to music, play video games, and take walks.

Angelina Seeba, 11th grade, likes to write stories and poems. She is inspired by the world around her and the idea of being able to express her thoughts creatively. In Angelina's free time, she likes to draw, journal, and explore nature. 

Denna Stellar, 10th grade, likes writing things that relate to real life. She likes dystopian work specifically. She likes making artwork of personal characters. She writes for enjoyment, but also likes putting parts of herself into the world through art and writing, and wants to make an impact. Denna spends her free time reading, writing, drawing,  participating in theatre, and roaming around aimlessly with friends.

Amanda Stoffa, 11th grade, likes to create art because it allows her to tell stories that words cannot express. Writing also allows her to see life through a different lens. She is inspired by the art of storytelling and pleasing others with her work. In Amanda’s free time, she likes to listen to music, paint, go outside, and watch TV shows.

Ethan Ungemach, 9th grade, likes to create stories, create games, and write books. His girlfriend inspired him, along with his lifelong love for writing and literature. In Ethan’s free time, he likes to write, play video games, and create music. 

Clark Young, 10th grade, likes to create and write nonfiction and fiction stories because it gives him the chance to write about somebody else and their own stories and adventures. His inspiration comes from watching lots of Broadway musicals, movies, TV shows, and from the experiences he has in his own life.  In Clark’s free time, he likes to dance and do gymnastics.

Maddy Young, 10th grade, enjoys writing nonfiction because she loves learning about her interests and values. People performing to their best ability and being the best version of themselves inspire her to create. In Maddy’s free time, she likes to enjoy music, either by listening to or creating it herself. She also enjoys spending time with loved ones.

Sharon Zhuang, 11th grade, likes to write stories and make visual art, including drawing and sketching. She is inspired by her friends and family, and the media she is interested in. In Sharon’s free time, she likes to play video games, watch shows, and spend time with friends.
