HOW IT WORKS
THE EASY 10 STEP PROCESS
TO GO FROM ZERO TO FULL CLASS "D" NYS DRIVER'S LICENSE
How Does a Teen Driver Go From Zero to Full Class "D" Unrestricted Driver's License?
STEP 1: Plan to take the NYS DMV Permit Test (start as early as 15 yrs and 9 mo old) (click here)
STEP 2: Start Supervised Driving with Your Permit Driver in the Parking Lot and Residential Neighborhoods (click here)
STEP 3: Enroll in Driver's Education AND decide which OPTION is best for you (to view, click on OPTION #1 or OPTION #2)
ENROLL IN DRIVER'S ED
STEP 4: Complete 24 hours of Supervised Driving in various environments through MOUNT MARKHAM DRIVER'S ED
STEP 5: Your child successfully completes Driver's Ed by actively participating in our 16 IN-PERSON CLASSROOM LESSONS, PASS each QUIZ and the FINAL EXAM, plus the 24 hrs of Supervised Driving mentioned above IN-PERSON AT MOUNT MARKHAM. (We will have 2 make up lessons. If your child needs more, we will simply allow them to attend Lessons in the next Course).
STEP 6: Before you register for the ROAD TEST, complete 60 hours of Supervised Driving (minus the hours completed in Driver's Ed) in 6 months or more (click here)
STEP 7: Use your MV-285 from us to register for the NYS DMV Road Test (click here)
STEP 8: Submit your Driver's Ed Credential, MV-285, to any DMV or at your Road Test (Or submit the MV-285 to any NYS DMV in person with parent present.)
STEP 9: Submit your MV-285 to your insurance agent for 10% or more discount on auto insurance
STEP 10: Receive by mail your Full Unrestricted Class "D" NYS Driver's License at 17 years old or when you pass the Road Test
