Hello and welcome to Mr. White's Marysville High School Website.
This is my 23rd year as a Social Science teacher at my Alma Mater. I graduated from MHS in 1976. I love my job and I love my students. This is the best gig I have ever had in my entire life. They say that if you love your job you will never work a day in your life. That describes exactly how I feel about being a teacher.
I am married to the love of my life, Karen, and I have 3 children, Vinny, Nikko, and Santara, and 1 stepdaughter, Ashley Sparlin. I am also a grandfather with 8 grandkids. Whew!
Before I became a teacher I owned Bookland in downtown Marysville for 11 years. I was also elected to the Marysville City Council in 1994 and served as the Vice-Mayor for 3 of those years. After the 1997 flood I closed my bookstore and went back to college to get a degree in History so I could get a teaching credential and become a teacher. That was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
I taught US History, Civics, AP U.S. Government, Economics, and Honors Economics for 18 years and now I teach Civics, US History, and Economics. I have been the Social Science Dept. Chairman for the last 17 years. I love working at Marysville High School. One of the best things about it is that almost every year since I started I have had students that are the children of people I went to high school with. I am at the point now where I am teaching the grandchildren of the people I went to high school with. Talk about coming full circle!
