Our health aides are medical assistants or licensed vocational nurses with strong pediatric backgrounds.
They provide the bulk of our hands-on student care!
Shannon Banach, MA
I have been a resident of the Yuba-Sutter area for most of my life. I started my career in 2001 working for Dr. Michael J. Fahey in Yuba City. I worked in his office for 3 years and enjoyed every minute. I continued my medical career and worked in family practice for Dr. Daryl Munzer. I was his Medical Assistant and worked for him for over two years until I had my first child.
I have been married for 14 years to my wonderful husband who is a butcher by profession. We have a daughter who is 11 and a son who is 8. They both attend school at Arboga Elementary.
Megan Choplin, LVN
I was born and raised in this community, attending Ella, Yuba Gardens, and Lindhurst High School. I graduated in 2014 from Butte college with an associate’s degree in science and vocational nursing. I obtained my license for vocational nursing soon after as well as certification in IV therapy/blood withdrawal. I began working in Yuba City for ResCare which provides 24/7 care for developmentally disabled clients. I continue to work periodically for this company during my summers off from my primary job at MJUSD. This is my third year working as an LVN for the Marysville school district. I am very fortunate and excited to be able to work among the students and faculty at the schools I attended.
I married my high school sweetheart of fourteen years and we made a home together in District 10. We have a sassy three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son.
Jennifer McDermott, MA
I grew up and graduated high school in Colusa. I graduated as a Medical Assistant in Chico. From there, I started working in a doctors’ office immediately after graduation and I have been working in different offices throughout the community for the last 21 years. I have worked for MJUSD’s Health Services as a Health Aide since August of 2015. I enjoy being able to work with children and provide for them.
My husband and I have been married for 19 years. We have three very active boys . I enjoy my time watching my boys play sports and spending time with my family and friends.
Julie Page, Health Technician
I have worked for MJUSD for nineteen years. I began my journey at Linda school working in the front office. I discovered that I loved working in an office setting. I had the opportunity to apply and get the Health Technician position at the District Office. This position gave me the ability to be in the office setting and also to visit the schools and be with the students. My duties as a Health Technician are to maintain the students’ health information and make sure that all students are in compliance with the California state laws. I also work very closely with the School Nurses during hearing and vision screenings. We have a wonderful team of Nurses and Health Aides that work together daily.
I grew up in a military family and was born in Newfoundland. At the age of around two we moved back to the US and eventually ended up at Beale AFB. After a few more moves my Dad retired and we moved back to Marysville Ca. due to the abundance of rivers and lakes for fishing. I have a wonderful husband of thirty-five years that works for a local underground construction company. We have two children that are both married and one beautiful granddaughter.
Jamie Supernaugh, MA
I am a fourth generation Yuba-Sutter resident, with strong ties to a large family. After caring for a sick family member, I became interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. I was blessed to be able to take classes here in the area, and to learn from a truly great teacher.
After spending the last eight plus years providing care at a local gastroenterology clinic, the opportunity to come work for MJUSD presented itself. In my time as a Health Aide, I have enjoyed interacting with the staff and students very much. Every day I am made aware of the strength these young people carry with them, and how they overcome so effortlessly. I hope to continue to provide care to, and be inspired by these students for years to come.

I have always been interested in working in the medical field. In 2012 I attended a program at Yuba College to obtain a certificate as a Medical Assistant, and couldn't be happier! I've worked with some of the most respected doctors in the surrounding communities and continue to love what I do!
I am a lifelong resident of Yuba County. I'm married and have two beautiful girls! I enjoy volunteering in the community, photography and time with my family and friends.

I have lived in the Yuba City/Marysville area almost all of my life. I attended Kynoch in the 1st grade and then we moved to Yuba City where I went to Lincoln School from 2nd grade thru 8th grade. I then finished school at Yuba City High School. I attended Yuba college for 2 semesters and was a housewife for 18 years. I went back to school to become a Medical Assistant and worked for the next 20+years. I worked in Pediatrics for most of the that time. I also worked with Dr Marks at Sutter Health. I currently assist with caring for children with diabetes and other medical needs.
I have an adult daughter and a 11-year-old grandson in the 5th grade, and a son who I lost 14 years ago to brain cancer. I remarried my best friend and soulmate 12 years ago and we have 3 fur babies, 2 Shih Tzus and a spoiled rotten cat who my husband adopted.
