Hi!!!  Welcome to another school year here at McKenney!!!  My name is Karen Anderson, I am going into my 25th year teaching science.  I spent my first 18 years teaching high school Chemistry and Physical Science, and the last 8 years at the Middle School level teaching 7th and 8th Grade Science.   While teaching at the high school level, I also coached both Softball and Girls Golf.   Right now, I know  I am where I belong.  I absolutely love teaching middle school and enjoy working with the students in this age group.

This may be a surprise, but I do have hobbies outside of teaching.  I have been married to my wonderful husband for 21 years now, and spend much of my time outside of school with him.  We had a dog named Sparks, who unfortunately left us last year.  We then adopted 3 Jack Russell puppies in December of 2022.  We enjoy golfing, camping, going to the lake, and watching the San Francisco Giants and San Jose Sharks.  

I am a proud graduate of Chico State with degrees in Chemistry, Physical Science, and of course, my teaching credential.  Deep down I always knew I wanted to be a teacher and spent a lot of time preparing for this profession. 

Students are always the best part of being a teacher.  I love interacting with the kids while watching them grow and learn.  Each year has a new challenge, and this one will be no exception!!  I look forward to working with, and interacting with all of you this year!!
