Hi!!!  Welcome to another school year here at McKenney!!!  My name is Karen Anderson, I am going into my 28th year teaching science.  I spent my first 18 years teaching high school Chemistry and Physical Science, and the last 9 years at the Middle School level teaching 7th and 8th Grade Science.   While teaching at the high school level, I also coached both Softball and Girls Golf.   Right now, I know  I am where I belong.  I absolutely love teaching middle school and enjoy working with the students in this age group.

This may be a surprise, but I do have hobbies outside of teaching.  I have been married to my wonderful husband for most of my career, and spend much of my time outside of school with him.  We adopted 3 Jack Russell puppies in December of 2022 and they are quite the handful.  We enjoy golfing, camping, going to the lake, and watching the San Francisco Giants and San Jose Sharks.  

I am a proud graduate of Chico State with degrees in Chemistry, Physical Science, and of course, my teaching credential.  Deep down I always knew I wanted to be a teacher and spent a lot of time preparing for this profession. 

Students are always the best part of being a teacher.  I love interacting with the kids while watching them grow and learn.  Each year has a new challenge, and this one will be no exception!!  I look forward to working with, and interacting with all of you this year!!
