Water Drive
Help Provide Water to West Virginia Communities
Bring bottled water or make a monetary donation at the Flowing Forward 5K to help support West Virginia communities experiencing water outages or limited access to reliable water.
WHY WE ARE COLLECTING WATER
Water Access Matters
Across West Virginia, communities can experience extended water outages that leave residents without reliable access to drinking water.
The Flowing Forward 5K will serve as a collection point for bottled water and monetary donations. Engineers Without Borders at West Virginia University will work with local organizations and community partners to distribute donated water where it is needed.
The water drive allows participants to make an immediate contribution while the 5K also supports longer term efforts focused on stronger and more resilient water systems.
GET INVOLVED
How You Can Help
You can support the water drive whether or not you are participating in the 5K.
Bring unopened cases or packages of bottled drinking water to the 5K. A designated collection area will be available on race day.
Monetary donations will be used to purchase additional bottled water and support distribution efforts to communities in need.
Encourage your company, student organization, family, church, department, or community to collect water before race day.
WATER DONATIONS
What to Donate
Help us collect safe, easy to transport water that can be efficiently distributed to communities.
We are accepting:
Unopened cases of bottled drinking water
Unopened individual water bottles in original packaging
Monetary donations toward bottled water purchases
Larger business or organizational water donations arranged in advanced.
Businesses, organizations, or groups planning to donate a large quantity of water should contact us before the event so we can coordinate transportation, unloading, and storage.
WHERE DOES THE WATER GO?
From the 5K to West Virginia Communities
Following the event, collected water will be transported to communities experiencing water access challenges.
We will coordinate with local organizations, churches, community groups, and other trusted partners to identify appropriate distribution locations and help reach residents who need assistance.
Distribution locations may vary depending on community needs at the time of the event.
