Talk on 'Innovation, Career and Research Mind'

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Department of Information Science & Engineering jointly organized a talk “Innovation, Career and Research Mind” on 19th April 2023 at 2:30pm in Auditorium-4, MITE.  The resource person for the event was Dr. Somashekara Bhat, Joint Director, MIT.

The session initiated by giving the young generation the need to be equipped with skill sets to face the demands in the market. He also gave real-time examples to demonstrate how adapting to the changing technological demands enhances the business and career development of an individual.  Without updating yourself with new technology will retard one’s career growth. The students of 6th semester Computer Science & Engineering, Information Science & Engineering and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning attended the session and gained an insight on Innovation, Career and Research.

Three Days workshop on “The Use of Open Sources in Recent Technologies”

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Department of Information Science & Engineering jointly organized 3 days workshop on “The Use of Open Sources in Recent Technologies” from 27-04-2023 to 29-04-2023 in Innovation Centre, MITE.

Dr. Narendra V.G briefed about how cyber security works and what are the problems India is facing due to hacking. He showed videos of major hacking that took place in different countries.

Dr. Shafeeq gave brief information about swarm intelligence. Flock of birds, whale swarm all are made by adjusting to the neighbours, paralysation is required to improve the time complexity. Later the students got opportunity of hands on session on SCI Lab.

She also highlighted MATLAB's arrival in India in 2008. Furthermore, she discussed the emerging trends in the industry, such as big data, IoT, computer vision, online learning, cloud platforms, software integration, and the electrification of everything. She encouraged participants to explore MATLAB daily and become familiar with its features and capabilities. Additionally, she provided definitions of MATLAB as a programming environment for algorithm development, data analysis, visualization, and numeric computation, and Simulink as a graphical environment for designing, simulating, and testing systems.

Talk on ' Enhancing Soft skills and Technical skills '

Mr Nishchith, Software Developer, Tieto Evry, Bangalore and an Alumni of Information Science and Engineering Department 2022 gave an insight to the students regarding how to develop soft skills. Balancing technical expertise with strong soft skills can make you a well-rounded engineering professional who not only excels in your field but also effectively collaborates and communicates with others. It was likely focused on the process of acquiring and improving specific abilities or competencies. The talk covered various aspects related to skill development, including methodologies, tools, and strategies that individuals can use to enhance their skills.

Talk on ' Web Development with React JS '

Mr Roshan Shetty, Software Developer, NTT Data, Bangalore has highlighted the role of React JS in Web Development. React was created with a single focus to create components for web applications. But as React's popularity is grown, its ecosystem has also grown to cover various use cases.

React can be used in existing apps. React was designed keeping this in mind. He said react can change a small part of your existing application by using React, and if that change works, then people can start converting your whole application into React.js. Facebook used the same approach. He explained that JavaScript is fast, but updating the DOM makes it slow. React minimizes DOM changes. And it has figured out the most efficient and intelligent way to update DOM React is an excellent tool with which to create interactive applications for mobile, web, and other platforms.
