In Karnataka's Kodagu district, Kotebetta, which translates to "Fort Hill," is thought to have historical significance, especially in connection with the Pandavas from the Mahabharata. Residents assert that during their exile in this area, the Pandavas constructed stone homes, some of which can still be seen today. The hill is renowned for both its stunning vistas from the top and its historic Shiva Temple. 

   ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಕೊಡಗು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಕೋಟೆಬೆಟ್ಟ, ಅಂದರೆ "ಕೋಟೆ ಬೆಟ್ಟ", ಇತಿಹಾಸಾತ್ಮಕ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ ಎಂಬ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಇದೆ, ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಮಹಾಭಾರತದ ಪಾಂಡವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಂಡವರು ತಮ್ಮ ವನವಾಸದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟಿಹಾದಿನ ಮನೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದ್ದರು ಎಂದು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವು ಇಂದಿಗೂ ಕಾಣಬಹುದಾಗಿವೆ. ಈ ಬೆಟ್ಟವು ಶಿಖರದಿಂದ ಕಾಣುವ ಅದ್ಭುತ ನೋಟಗಳ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಶಿವಮಂದಿರಕ್ಕೂ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ.
