OFFICERS
President
Coordinate the work of all officers and committees; preside over all PTA meetings; appoint the chair of each standing committee and special committee; meet with the principal prior to the beginning of the school year to see what the needs of the school are; plan out the school year PTA calendar with the Principal
Vice President
Assist the PTA President; preside over meetings in the absence of the President. The Vice President also handles all events, helps plan and coordinate school events and programs throughout the year. They work closely with the PTA board, volunteers, and school staff to organize fun, engaging activities that build school spirit and community.
Secretary
Record the minutes of all Board and General PTA meetings; maintain the required documents of the association (FOUNDATIONS training completion lists, records retention policy; adopted and signed ethics/conflict of interest policy, membership rosters adopted plans of work)
Treasurer
Have custody of all the funds of the association; present a written and verbal financial report at Board and General Meetings in accordance; maintain books of account and records including bank statements, receipts, budget, invoices, paid receipts and canceled check in accordance with the record retention policy; complete and file all necessary tax documents; and present books of account and records to the financial reconciliation committee
Parliamentarian
Advise the presiding officer on questions of parliamentary procedure when asked; vote only when the vote is by ballot
Principal
The school principal serves as a key advisor and liaison between the PTA and the school. They provide insight on school policies, support PTA goals, and help ensure events and initiatives align with the needs of students and staff. Their collaboration is essential in building a strong, united school community.
STANDING COMMITTEE CHAIRS
Communications Chair
Create content and maintain website and social media pages with information pertaining to the PTA and the school
Fundraising Chair
Research and present fundraiser ideas to the Board and Membership for approval; coordinate and execute fundraisers throughout the year; outreach to local businesses for sponsorship and donation opportunities.
Garden Club Chair
Communicate Garden Club status and needs to PTA board. Participate in maintaining the health and cleanliness of the Mitchell garden.
Healthy Lifestyles Chair
Serve as an advocate for incorporating a healthy lifestyle theme into your PTA efforts. Develop learning and engagement opportunities for everyone in the school community.
Historian Chair
Maintain photos and descriptions of events and impacts for the Mitchell PTA since origin. Take photos of all events.
Hospitality Chair
Execute events throughout the year to celebrate and recognize staff; refresh snacks monthly for Stock the Lounge; plan Staff Appreciation Week
Membership Chair
Maintain membership information. Organize and execute monthly raffles for members. Actively recruit new members.
Programs
The Program Chair helps plan and coordinate educational and enrichment programs for students and families. They work with the PTA and school staff to bring meaningful, fun, and engaging activities to the school community.
Reflections Coordinator
Organize and implement the National PTA Art Contest in coordination with the Art Teacher, Submits winner pieces to Local/Unit level
Room Parent Coordinator
The Room Parent Coordinator recruits, organizes, and supports room parents for each classroom. They serve as the main point of contact between the PTA and room parents, helping share information, coordinate classroom celebrations, and assist with school-wide events. This role helps strengthen classroom and school community connections.
Volunteer Coordinator Chair
Promote good relations between school and community. Be knowledgeable about the volunteer guidelines set by the school district. Recruit volunteers throughout the school year and recognize volunteers for their hard work.
WATCH D.O.G.S. Chair
Promote positive relationships between the dads, school staff and PTA. Work with PTA to grow membership. Provide support at PTA events.
