This presentation will provide an overview of recreational therapy and the therapeutic benefit for individuals with a diagnosis of legal blindness/visual impairment. Also, this presentation will provide resources and tools to assist individuals experiencing challenges transitioning back into the community after recent diagnosis.

Understand the different domains of recreation therapy and how they benefit an individual's quality of life.
Identify barriers for individual with vision loss as it relates to participation in recreational activities in a community-based setting as well as individually.
Identify reasons for isolation and decrease participation in recreational activities once enjoyed.
Demonstrate positive ways to adjust to diagnoses of visual impairment for both family and individual.
