Science & Social Studies
(Tuesdays)
Hello! My name is Mairin Davie, and I am so excited to be teaching 1st grade social studies and science this year! I can’t wait to get to know you all and have so much fun with your kids! I love hands-on activities, songs, games, and art. It’s going to be a great year!
I have been teaching in various ways ever since I graduated from college back in 2002. I began as a high school English teacher, and then I worked with foster youth, tutoring reading and writing. I became a mommy and discovered Waldorf education. I loved it and taught early childhood/kindergarten for 9 years. I also got to homeschool my daughter for 1st grade and my son for 3rd grade! Before joining MVA, I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade at the Waldorf school; I got to do LOTS of hands-on science and history based on literature and biography. Over the past couple of years, I have absolutely loved being a homeschool teacher here at Mission Vista! With this M2L position, I get to combine my love of science and social studies with my love for young children!
My two children are now teenagers, and our “baby” is a 2-year-old puppy! I love spending time with family, being outside in nature (hiking and going to the beach), and figure skating on the weekend. It is an honor to partner with you in your child’s education this year. Thank you.

There will be days that we have a special class (i.e., bring a stuffy to class, wear a silly hat), we might have supplies needed for a science experiment, or special classes that allow students to present a special assignment. I will be sure to email you ahead of time to remind you of these special classes.
