Meet the Webb Family

Ashlyn Webb is a student, who was born to be a star. At least, she hopes to be one some day! She has been cast in some small roles in commercials and films, and she often attends auditions in Los Angeles and San Diego. She loves to sing, she loves to dance, and for her, the whole world is a stage.

Ashlyn's dad works as a financial planner, and most of his days are spent at his downtown office.

Mrs. Webb is a freelance writer. She appreciates the flexible hours of her job, because it allows her the ability to take her daughter to wherever she needs to be on any given day . . . to auditions, to work, or to in-person classes or lessons.

Because Ashlyn's schedule varies from day to day and from week to week, she takes asynchronous, online classes through the school's Imagine Edgenuity program. These classes work well for Ashlyn, because they allow her to take her schoolwork with her, where ever she goes.

Ashlyn uses a laptop provided by the Charter School's technology department to log into her assignments each day. She can work on them in the car, while traveling to sets or auditions, and she can work on them in between scenes. Just like her work, Ashlyn is disciplined about completing her course assignments on time, which helps ensure that she never falls behind in her classes.

Mrs. Webb enjoys having the support of the school's Highly Qualified Teachers to assist her daughter when she has questions about course content. Ashlyn is able to attend weekly office hours or email or call her teachers whenever she has questions.

Mrs. Webb also appreciates having an account through the curriculum's parent portal, which allows her to monitor her daughter's progress and the grades in her courses.

Ashlyn works hard in her courses, but she does find chemistry to be a little challenging. Her mom located a tutor that partners with Mission Vista Academy, and Ashlyn is now able to meet with the tutor a couple of time each week. This has helped Ashlyn feel much more comfortable in the course.

Ashlyn loves honing her skills for her profession, and she takes in-person acting, dance, and voice lessons with MVA vendors each week. For her, the in-person classes provide a nice balance to the online coursework that she does each day.

The combination of online, asynchronous classes and in-person educational services help ensure that Ashlyn is thriving with her school work.
