Creating Media - Video Production
This unit we will have the opportunity to learn how to create short videos in groups. As we progress through this unit, we will be exposed to topic-based language and develop the skills of capturing, editing, and manipulating video. Active learning is encouraged through guided questions and by working in small groups to investigate the use of devices and software. We will be guided with step-by-step support to take our ideas from conception to completion. At the conclusion of the unit, we will have the opportunity to reflect on and assess their progress in creating a video.
To explain what makes a video effective
● I can explain that video is a visual media format
● I can identify features of videos
● I can compare features in different videos
● I know what to do if I see any content online that makes me feel uncomfortable
In this lesson, we were introduced to video as a media format. We looked at examples of videos featuring production and editing techniques this will help us work towards using our own videos. We also discussed as a class what actions we should take if we saw any inappropriate content online. Finally, we began by explaining what the medium of video is before analysing and comparing examples of videos.
To use a digital device to record video
● I can identify and find features on a digital video recording device
● I can experiment with different camera angles
● I can recognise camera angles in a video
To capture video using a range of techniques
● I can suggest filming techniques for a given purpose
● I can capture video using a range of filming techniques
● I can review how effective my video is
In this lesson we were using a storyboard to explore a variety of filming techniques we had learned about last week. Some of these we will then use in our own video projects later on in the unit. At the end of the session we evaluated the effectivness of these techniques.
