Creating Media - Digital Painting
In this unit, the students explored the world of digital art and its exciting range of creative tools. They had the opportunity to create their own paintings, while getting inspiration from a range of other artists.
Learning objectives:
To explore the function of different freehand tools.

This lesson introduced the students to the freehand tools available for digital painting.
Merlin class explored the functions of different freehand tools by making marks on a screen and drawing lines.
In Magpie class the children drew vertical lines and drew pictures of their friends using a pencil.

This lesson introduced students to the line and shape tools and revisited the fill and undo tools used for digital painting. They created their own digital painting in the style of an artist.
Moorhen class created some digital art inspired by the work of the artist, Piet Mondrian. They used the line and shape tools to create rectangles and then filled the spaces with colour. They found it was easier to use the shape tool but worked hard to master the challenge of using the line tool.
In Magpie class the children used the lines and shapes tool to draw lines.

This lesson introduced students to a range of shape tools, allowing them to create a painting in the style of an artist.
Moorhen class created some digital art inspired by the work of the artist, Henri Matisse. They used the shape tools to create rectangles and squares and then filled the spaces with colour.
In Magpie class, the children used the pencil tool to draw pictures.

This lesson increased student's understanding of the available paint tools and encouraged them to select the best tools to create a digital painting in the style of Kandinsky.
In Magpie class, the children used different tools to draw circle and had a turn to colour and shade in.

In this lesson, students selected appropriate colours, brush sizes, and brush tools to independently create their own image in the style of an artist.
