Unit 1 ~ Algebraic Reasoning Unit 2 ~Integers and Algebra
Algebra is a language of patterns, rules and symbols. In Unit 1 students begin to learn the vocabulary, examine the rules and practice the skills that allow for the manipulation of numbers and variables. Students translate verbal descriptions into algebraic expressions and then use properties of numbers to simplify and evaluate them, justifying their work using accurate vocabulary.
In Unit 2 students will extend their understanding to use variables and other symbols to write and solve linear equations and inequalities. Student deepen their understanding of integer operations and model this understanding using a number line.
