Lesson 3 -
Students are surrounded by stories, shows, games, and music every day, but they may not know that these all have a special name: media. This lesson helps young learners identify media in their daily lives through familiar examples like books, movies, and TV shows. Students create an art gallery of their favorite media and learn about the devices we use to enjoy different types of content. By connecting media to their own experiences, students build a foundational understanding of the digital world around them.
Objectives
Understand what media is, using familiar examples
Identify devices that help us watch, read, and listen to media
Share examples of media from their own lives
Students will continue to practice using the mouse.
Lesson 2 -
Students will learn how to use a computer mouse and keyboard during mouse academy. We will practice sitting the right way and using our hands gently and safely while we work on the computer.
Teacher will show video and discuss with class - Practice using a Computer Mouse
Lesson 1
Students will learn the rules and procedures of the Computer Lab. We will also play some get to know you games and listen to a story called Arthur's Computer Disaster . After going over rules and procedures will will read a book called David Goes to School
Lesson 6 - Today students will log into "Teach your monster to read" account.
Lesson 5 - Today we will learn about the internet. We will also practice our mouse skills by Arranging letters in Alphabetical Order.
Digital Citizenship
We will learn how to be good digital citizens. We will learn how important it is to use safe websites that are just right for us.

Seat Assignments
The "Eye on the Teacher" Rule - hands off, voices off and eyes on teacher
Goal Setting - Have students share what they hope to learn or create this year.
Lab Rules and Care
Discuss Guidelines: Go over basic lab rules, such as no food or drinks near equipment, gentle handling of mice/keyboards, and washing hands before class.
Activity: Get to know you activity
Logins and Basic Skills Practice
Log-in Practice: The biggest hurdle at the start of the year is getting everyone logged in. Walk students through typing their usernames and passwords.
Mouse/Keyboard Practice: Let students play a familiar typing or mouse-skill game to get comfortable with the devices
Creative Main Activity
Primary Grades (K–2nd): Use an "unplugged" coding activity (like stepping through a maze or "programming" a classmate to act as a robot) to introduce sequencing without screen time.
Upper Elementary (3rd–5th): Have them complete a digital "All About Me" or "Avatar" glyph in Google Slides or PowerPoint. This serves as both an icebreaker and a quick assessment of their copy/paste and resizing skills.
Wrap-Up
Exit Ticket: Have students tell you one thing they are excited to do in the lab this year or the #1 rule for computer care.
Dismissal: Ensure computers are shut down (or logged out) properly before they leave.
