Introduction to Technical Theatre

Introduction to Technical Theatre class will introduce the first-year technician to the areas of stagecraft and theatrical production. The student will climb ladders, lift items to move sets, build (using tools such as hammers, electric drill, electric screwdriver, hand saw, hobby knife, hot foam cutter, and hot glue gun), paint, work online, research, work with and wear makeup, and handle very expensive lighting and sound equipment in this class. The theatre elements to which you will be introduced will include, but are not limited to: Stage elements Costumes/Makeup Box, Office/Ticket Sales Stage properties (props), Sound Engineering/Recording, Stage Management Crews/Assignments, Lights and Lighting Design Scene Design, Theatre Appreciation, Theatre/Set Building, Safety, and Publicity.

Prerequisite: Theatre 1 or 8th Grade with Mrs Dierking's approval

Additional Commitment: Must be available to work gigs after school or weekends once a marking period
