My name is Katelynn Rouskas and I have had the pleasure of working with the wonderful students of the Mineola School District for the past 8 years. I first started as a permanent substitute at Jackson Avenue in 2012. Next, I was afforded the opportunity to teach as a 3rd grade co-teach leave replacement. I learned a great deal from my colleagues at Jackson Avenue as well as my co-teacher Allison Maffetone. I continued as a permanent sub for the building the following year. I then moved to Hampton street where I was a part time pre-k teacher as well as a part time substitute for the building. The Hampton street experience was extremely beneficial because it gave me the opportunity to work in my own classroom and find myself as an educator. After teaching pre-k, I moved to Meadow Drive where I started my STEAM journey. I first started as 0.6 STEAM Teacher and 0.4 substitute at Meadow Drive. The following year my position started full-time and I am so grateful to be teaching it because it is truly my passion and I LOVE being able to spark the love of science in each of my students.
The mission of the Mineola Union Free School District is to inspire each student to be a life-long learner, pursue excellence, exhibit strength of character and contribute positively to a global society.
