As an early childhood educator, I believe the classroom environment is one of the most important factors affecting student learning. The artifacts provided will show a culturally responsive environment with clear learning goals and feedback, opportunities for student choice, flexible seating, and positive relationships with both students and parents. This year, I added various flexible seating options to provide more choice for students. Students are taught how to choose a workplace where they can be successful. I participated in two school wide initiatives to improve classroom climate. I assigned classroom greeters and promoted Hampton HELPERs.
The main tool used for classroom management and parent communication is Class Dojo. Class Dojo provided students with positive and immediate feedback.
To improve the classroom climate, I collaborated with Lucia Barberio to provide students with a social emotional curriculum and provide students with opportunities for meditation throughout the school day. This year, I am further embedding the importance of a growth mindset within all parts of the school day.
