Biography

I have always been fascinated by the things that I have seen around me.  Science was my way of understanding the things that fascinated me.  I knew I wanted to work in a field that combined science and helping people.  Unfortunately, I learned quickly after a family member's a motorcycle accident that I might not be cut out for treating patients in a medical setting.  (Ask me to tell you this story sometime, it is really funny.)  This lead me to teaching.  It was my way of combining my desire to help people and to share my fascination with the natural world.

This is my 24th year teaching science at Pulaski High School, but Pulaski has always been my home away from home.  I graduated from Pulaski in 1995.  Up until 2018, I had taught most of my classes in room 33.  During the summer before the 2018-2019 school year, I was moved to an awesome, brand new science lab in room 135.  I'm still trying to remember where I put everything, but it has been great.

I currently teach DP Sports, Exercise and Health Sciences, Year 1 and Year  2.  I am also adding the role of School Support Teacher this year.  So you may see me in many of your classes.  Please click in the drop down menu above to view information specific to each course including the syllabus, general course expectations and the Pulaski High School Science Safety Rules.

At home, I a proud mom.  I have two boys, Ryan and Alex.  Ryan is in college and Alex is a junior.  The boys and I lost their dad in 2021, so we have had to learn to navigate many new challenges in his absence.  Although I haven't done it in a few years, I enjoy horseback riding as well as swimming and hanging out at Great America with my boys.  My favorite books are a series by Chanda Hahn called "An Unfortunate Fairy Tale", but I have also been known to read a romance novel now and then.

I look forward to getting to know you this school year.
