SpringBoard

Bringing new energy to the classroom

SpringBoard is a different kind of instructional program for grades 6–12. Developed by teachers for teachers, SpringBoard offers core instructional materials in print and digital that are fully aligned to state standards, Advanced Placement (AP) coursework, and the SAT Suite of Assessments. The program features student materials, teacher resources, and formative and summative assessments, as well as professional learning for teachers and administrators. SpringBoard was built around a simple belief: If you give teachers the best materials, engaging methods, and ongoing professional support, then student success will surely follow.

A more dynamic way to learn—in print and an award-winning digital platform

SpringBoard puts students in charge of what they learn, preparing them with the skills and knowledge that matter most for college and career readiness. Classroom activities are structured to engage all students in active learning through discussion, partnering, and group work, helping them take ownership of their learning. And our digital platform offers powerful tools to engage students beyond the classroom.

SpringBoard ELA: Diving into the text

SpringBoard helps students build extensive content knowledge with close reading and analysis of texts, critical viewing of select films, wide-ranging independent reading, and lively, engaging classroom discussion. Language skills and knowledge are incorporated as part of an integrated approach to reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

SpringBoard Math: Relevance for the real world

SpringBoard applies mathematical ways of thinking to real-world issues. The curriculum not only prepares students to solve complex math problems, but also teaches them to apply mathematical knowledge to a variety of settings, collaborate with others to complete tasks, and communicate effectively using the language of mathematics.

Foundational principles: Helping each child achieve his or her potential

SpringBoard is purposefully designed for teachers and administrators who want to improve quality of instruction and standards achievement across their schools and districts—with personalized tools, teacher supports, and pedagogy proven to help students, based on two key principles:

Begin with the end in mind

Grounded in research and based on the Understanding by Design model, SpringBoard teaches students the skills and knowledge that matter most to meet AP and college and career readiness standards. Teachers and students receive clear learning targets when they begin the set of activities. Students know why the skills they’re developing matter. With SpringBoard, everyone—teachers, administrators, districts, and instructional coaches—is united around the same set of goals.

Keep students at the center

SpringBoard puts students in charge of how they learn. This encourages more involvement and helps create a more dynamic classroom experience. With a flexible design and rich library of tools, resources, and support, SpringBoard helps educators:

  • Engage students through activities and assessments that encourage active learning and collaboration

  • Personalize instruction to meet student needs through specific learning targets, strategies, processes, and content, and through powerful partnerships with Zinc Learning Labs and Khan Academy

  • Check on student progress with multiple opportunities for formative assessments
