On Thursday, the week before February Break, Glover had its very own Olympic visitor! Isabelle Kingolving Farrar, Celeste’s (Grade 4) mom, was part of the 2004 US Olympic sailing team in Athens, Greece! She placed fifth in her event. Isabelle also won the 2008 sailing World Championships! She talked to Glover Kids about how everyone should follow their dreams no matter how big or small they are. Isabelle also said that she had so much fun at the Olympics! She said that she stayed at a hotel in the Olympic Village only for US athletes. The village also had a cafè serving only healthy foods (but there was a Mcdonalds too, of course). It was so fun having you, Isabelle! Thank you!
Speaking of the Olympics, the 2026 Winter Olympic Games just finished! The last event was the Men's Ice Hockey, in which the US beat Canada in overtime. Norway has the most medals, while the US sits in second. Johannes Høsflot Klæbo made history when he won his 6th gold medal this Olympics, the most ever in one Winter Olympics. It was his 10th overall, being the only person to hit double digits in golds, besides Michael Phelps. Mikaela Shiffrin won a gold medal in Slalom, her first in 8 years. Franjo von Allmen of Switzerland won three gold medals: Downhill, Super-G, and Team Combined. In cross country skiing, a native wolfdog, Nazgul, went for gold as he raced down the track. Let’s go Nazgul!
