Offered as an unleveled course for all freshmen, Modern World Cultures students study the way economic, political, social, and cultural trends and movements have affected the modern world. The course begins with the Age of Enlightenment and continues into the twenty first century. Students will develop study content while practicing skills such as critical thinking, primary source and data analysis and historical research and writing. Topics of study include the French and Haitian Revolutions, the Industrial Revolution, Imperialism in Africa and Asia, World Wars I and II, the Cold War, and a capstone project where students choose a human rights issue around the world to explore and understand.
