This full-year course starts with America today and traces our history to examine why issues of today are part of our national identity. Each unit will require students to research and analyze an issue/policy in America and trace the history to comprehensively understand the issues we face in our current society. Each unit will use media, data, and historical documents to analyze and then answer an essential question. Some of the essential questions addressed in the course include the rights and responsibilities of an American citizen, why race permeates so many issues in America, America’s policy on immigration and America’s role in the world. Every student must PASS two years of American history, and this course satisfies the requirement of a course in US history. Prerequisite: Students must pass USI before enrolling in this course.
