In this course, students will continue to deepen and extend their understanding of the algebraic, geometric, and statistical concepts addressed in 8th grade by completing the remaining Integrated Math I topics that were not addressed in Integrated Math IA.
This second part of the course includes two complete (One-Variable Statistics; Functions) and one partial (Linear Systems of Equations and Inequalities) unit of Algebra I and two complete units (Coordinate Geometry; Conditional Probability) of Geometry from the Illustrative Mathematics curriculum.
Emphasis in this course is placed in four critical areas: (1) synthesizing understanding of functions; (4) creating and solving equations and inequalities involving linear expressions; (3) using a rectangular coordinate system to verify slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines; and (4) extending understanding of probability from middle school.
