The goal of this semester course is to explain how technology impacts our current and future lives as students/workers, consumers and citizens. Topics will include: hardware, operating systems, computer maintenance, online safety, cybersecurity, and computer ethics. Topics covered about cybersecurity will include the implementation and monitoring of security on network and computer systems. Students will investigate strategies to identify and protect against security threats such as hackers, eavesdropping and network attacks. The basics of cryptography and logic reasoning will be explored. Students will participate in several relevant, hands-on learning activities. Students will utilize Chromebooks to complete real world projects. This course will provide students the opportunity to look inside a computer, assemble a computer, and learn strategies to solve computer related issues.
Students enrolled in this course do not need any previous programming experience and, upon successful completion, can apply the credits toward satisfying the Technology graduation requirements.
