The name "Mil Mariposas" was inspired by the butterfly (mariposa) symbol, my roots, and my personal journey. When you think about a butterfly, what comes to mind? Beauty, fragility, small bugs, flying, colors, spring, freedom, a borderless journey, resilience, strength, community, chrysalis, caterpillars? These are some of the common responses I have heard before, and the truth is that Mil Mariposas Counseling is meant to represent this and more.
Just like las mariposas, we sometimes find ourselves facing a long and challenging journey. Sometimes beyond barriers and borders, beyond places others doubt we can go. Like a mariposa, mighty and brave, I want my clients to be able to face this challenge - maybe with fear, but not giving up- knowing that the reward lays on the other side of this journey. The mariposa's journey and life cycle helps us illustrate the many changes and life stages we must go through in our lives, the challenges, adventures, and beauty all of us possess.
"Mil" (one thousand) in Mil Mariposas Counseling, represents community, support, friendship, peer support, connection; in other words, an understanding that you're not alone. Here, we encourage everyone to support each other, to understanding that we are together in this fight, and to relate through the lens of abundance. Following these values, we can witness the impact in our communities; when understanding, love, support and kindness is abundant, these multiply.
I do not know what life stage you're in, if you feel like a caterpillar, maybe in the chrysalis, or you have tired or beat-up wings. Maybe you just need a little break, a safe space to pause your journey to soon resume your flight; but I do know we all need help sometimes. This is why Mil Mariposas Counseling exists, contact us to get the support you need.
