Imagine you go to a store to purchase a clothing item, but unfortunately you cannot try it on, cannot feel the texture, and you do not know how is going to fit you. Does it sound frustrating? does it make you nervous? This is why we offer this service. During your consultation, you'll get an opportunity to ask questions, to talk to the therapist and get a better idea if this is the right fit for you.
We are aware that starting therapy can make people nervous, can cause anxiety or even fear, so we want you to know that you do not have to commit to anything right now. Just show up, and see what happens. What is there to lose?
During a session for individual therapy, the focus in on you. Your goals, your problems, your experience and perspective. We will address symproms you may be experiencing and look for therapeutic goals that make sense to you.
The topics we address durign Individual Therapy are not limited to problems that are only yours or only affect you. Topics can inlcude issues that affect others as well, but only you are present in the session. There may be occasions when others can be present if you want them to. This can be with the goal to help the other person understand where you are comming from or how to support you. However even if there are other people joining you, your therapeutic goals would continue to be the center of our sessions.
During the sessions for Couples' Counseling, the focus is on the realtionship between you and your partner(s). The goals are based on identified problems in the relationship, such as communication, trust, family roles, etc.
This type of counseling is not treatment for only one person. While in occasions we will explore individual experiences and perspectives, the purpose will always be achieving the relationship's therapeutic goals.
Family therapy is a service we offer to families who wish to improve their relationship with identified members of said family. The focus in on the dynamic and priority is not given to a specific member's opinion. In other words, this type of therapy is collaborative, and all the members must be willing to participate and agree to the treatment goals. We understand that most families work with a type of hierarchy and values that are important to them; our goal is to work on the current dynamic so each member of the family can thrive, our job is not to criticize, judge or impose any believe on anyone.
Please note, not all the family members must be present, it is common to have family therapy with only a child and a parent in the session. Sometimes it is recommended to have sessions with other family members, but typically this is not sctrictly necessary.
The Support for parents and caregivers sessions are designed to identify and find solutions to improve the situation at home and in your role as a parent or guardian.

Consequences & grounding
Self-care while taking care of others
Bullying at school
Suspected sexual activity
Suspected substance use
Support for children after a diagnosis (ADHD or Learning Challenges)
Advocating for children in community
During these sessions is not recommended to bring children. In occasions the child or someone else (relevant to the case) can be invited to join a session, but the focus is to work with the caregivers to help them support the children under your care.
These sessions are meant to provide support and practical techniques to support those who you care for. These sessions can be short term or long term.
