The first term has flown by and now we look forward to a busy and exciting Term 2.
As part of our Personal and Social Development and RME, we are looking at Rights of the Child, in particular Article 12 then progressing to other Articles each month. We continue to work on keeping our ‘Good to be Green’ rules. We will be continuing with our Star of the week, which will be announced during assemblies. These will be on a Friday this year.
The class will be having P.E. twice a week, on a Tuesday with Mr Douglas the P.E. specialist. P7A attend swimming every Friday and P7B will have P.E. on a Wednesday morning. Please ensure that your child has appropriate P.E. kit on these days. Please could they have gym shoes, a hair bobble if necessary and ensure all clothing is labelled to avoid items ending up in lost property. As we have Healthy Hearts three days each week children should have a jacket in case of rain or cold weather.
The children will also have a weekly library visit every Tuesday. Children are also able to bring in appropriate books from home that they would like to read during class reading time.
This term in Literacy the classes are focusing on creating imaginative texts. We will also be continuing to use our VCOP skills to help up level our work as part of Big Writing. We will also be working on peer and self-assessment so that the children are aware of what to do to further improve their work.
In Maths we are going to be focusing on angles and money and using the computer to help display our work. We will continue to develop our skills with addition/subtraction/multiplication/division. Developing our mental maths and problem solving skills will also be our focus throughout the year as well as linking our maths work to everyday situations.
