Opening your locker may feel tricky at first, but it gets much easier with practice.
Learning the combination strengthens executive functioning skills such as memory, sequencing, organization, and problem-solving. Practicing patiently and taking care of your locker also demonstrates our core values of Responsibility, Courage, and Integrity.
Remember the pattern:
Turn the dial to the right at least two full turns. This clears any numbers that were previously entered.
Continue turning right and stop when the first number of your combination lines up with the arrow.
Turn the dial to the left.
Pass your first number one time, continue turning, and stop when the second number lines up with the arrow.
Turn the dial to the right and go directly to the third number. Do not pass it.
Lift the latch or pull the handle up and out to open the door.
Use the arrow at the top of the lock to line up each number carefully.
Turn the dial slowly as you approach each number.
If you pass a number, do not turn backward. Start again by clearing the lock.
Do not pull on the handle while entering your combination.
Remember the pattern: Right, Left, Right!
Keep your combination private. Do not share it with other students.
For safety and security, students are not permitted to share lockers.
Practice a few times when you are not in a hurry.
Before walking away, close the locker completely and spin the dial.
If your locker still will not open, stay calm and ask a teacher for help.
You are not expected to be an expert on the first day. Practice, be patient, and you will get it!
