April 2026
MHS Families,
I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable spring recess. As we return, we are entering an exciting and important stretch of the school year. The start of April brings renewed energy, focus, and a number of wonderful opportunities for our students to engage, perform, and grow.
We are proud to kick things off with our ENL Family Night on April 14th, a special evening that celebrates our diverse community and brings families together. Our music program will also be well represented as our students participate in Music in the Parks on April 10th and 11th, showcasing their talent and hard work.
As we approach April 17th, the end of Marking Period 3, I encourage all students to stay focused and finish the quarter strong. Shortly after, we begin Quarter 4 on April 20th, which also marks National Library Week. This is a perfect time to highlight the importance of literacy, research, and our outstanding library resources.
One of the most anticipated events of the year, Junior Prom, will take place at The Links at Union Vale at 6:00 PM. We look forward to a memorable evening for our students.
Our musicians will continue to shine at the NYSSMA Solo Festival on April 24th and 25th, demonstrating their individual talents and dedication to their craft.
We will close out the month with our Wellness Fair on April 27th at 6:00 PM, an important opportunity for students and families to learn more about health, wellness, and available resources.
As always, thank you for your continued support. We look forward to a strong and successful month ahead.

The newly renovated HS Library Media Center continues to grow and has become an active hub of activity throughout the day. Whether it's reading and catching up on homework, meeting friends for a friendly game at lunchtime, entering the weekly trivia contest, or using the MakerSpace to work on a project, there is always something to do.
It is my pleasure to introduce and warmly welcome Ms. Elizabeth (Beth) Rizzi, our new School Psychologist to the Millbrook High School community.
Ms. Rizzi joins us with 17 years of experience as a School Psychologist at John Jay High School, bringing a wealth of knowledge and a deep commitment to supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally. In addition to her work in schools, she has served as an Adjunct Professor at Marist University, helping to prepare future educators and mental health professionals.
Her expertise extends beyond the school setting through her work as a Consultant with Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES Regional Safety Services, where she has received extensive training and contributed to important initiatives, including CSTAG (Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines), the PREPaRE Curriculum, Suicide Safety for Teachers and School Staff, and Mental Health Assessment Coaching. She has also developed and presented on topics such as resilience during crisis and verbal de-escalation, all of which are critical in fostering safe and supportive school environments.
We are excited to have her join our team and are confident that her experience, compassion, and leadership will be a tremendous asset to our students, staff, and families.
Please join me in welcoming her to Millbrook High School.
Global Games
Mrs. DeRosa and her Global students facilitated Global Games with the Middle School students. Our students worked really hard on the creation of their games and a special thanks to all the Middle School students and teachers for their participation!
Mock Trial
Ms. Silverio’s Trial Techniques and Business Law classes conducted two mock trials in the auditorium before an audience of proud parents, students, and faculty. Congratulations to all participants and both teams on two successful trials. A special thanks to Deputy Freer who helped as a judge!

Health Tip of the Month
The New York State Office of mental Health (OMH) recently launched the statewide ‘Be Well’ campaign to help people understand the importance of mental wellness and the impacts of stress and trauma. The Be Well website gives New Yorkers accessible tips and free ways to improve their well-being. This campaign features ads and a website offering simple, straight-forward information on mental wellness, including:
· Using breathing to calm and reset.
· Practicing mindfulness and gratitude.
· Fostering resilience.
· Finding strategies to cope.
· Understanding how stress affects our bodies.
· Learning about the impact of trauma.
The site is user-friendly, available in multiple languages, and provides direct links to immediate crisis supports. Ads have been running in English and Spanish in nearly every medium throughout the state, including on social media, digital platforms, public transit, billboards, geofencing, radio, and on television – both cable and streaming services.
Please help promote this campaign by sharing it with your colleagues and remember to Be Well!
