What do you do after school?

                                             by  Xiaozheng Mai

I wrote an article about what do you do after school? I interviewed a total of 100 students at Taylor. The first question is what do you usually do after school? 61.2% of students choose to go home, 6.1% of students choose to go out with friends, 4.1% choose to play ball gema, 2% students choose to read books, 26.6% of students choose different options, and a lot of students like to go home.

The second question is if you go home, what do you do? 51.5% students choose to do homework,10.3% students choose to play video games,5.2% students choose to watch TV, 4.1% students choose to read books,28.9% students choose different options, and a lot of students like to go home and do homework.

The third question: are you satisfied with your current extracurricular activities? 58.2% students choose yes,37.8% students choose sort of, 4.1% students choose no, a lot studenst like extracurricular activities.

The fourth question is: What extracurricular activities would you like Taylor’s students to take part in? Many students have no ideas, some students say community service, sports teams, volunteer, and volleyball.

The fifth question is: Do you have any after school classes? If so, what is it? 45% students choose on, 55%students have after school classes.

The last question of the day is when the robotics club starts, apparently according to Mrs Evans, it will start on November 14th, the email will go to your parents. The email will reach out to all students, it’s up to you if you want to join or not. We have expectations of Mrs Ning teaching it, since she was a previous software engineer before becoming a part of Taylor’s staff.

To sum it all, Taylor has a massive crowd, full of ideas, goals and so much more. We should listen to Taylor’s community for more feedback, opinions are important. With these opinions, we should have clubs, and with clubs we can make Taylor a place full of talented people each with their own individual clubs. So please, together, we can make Taylor a better place.

 Sixth Grade Introductory Survey

                                         By: Emilio Hernandez

Hello, Today I conducted a survey specialized for 6th graders to see how they felt and feel about Taylor, in total we got 23 responses by November 6th 2023. They responded to “What was your biggest fear coming into middle school?” Some responded, having a lot of homework, not getting good grades, bullying, not knowing where to find their classes, and other people being judgemental. “Has anyone in an upper grade helped you in any kind of way?” This is a question specifically to find out if 7th and 8th graders should start helping out more. The 6th graders responded that they had siblings to help them out, another person said their shadow helped them out a lot, and the rest said no. My third question I had for them was “What has been your favorite class activity this year so far?” Some said, P.E because you get to play games, do science activities, and a couple of people said they've enjoyed everything. Another person said “Going to the science lab in Mr.Lendaris's class and using the microscopes.” Next I asked “Favorite weekday of the school and why?” Nobody said Monday, or Tuesday apart from one individual who said “Tuesday because you can share roots in Ms Siguenza's class for Siguenza tickets.” They mostly said Wednesday and Thursday because they don’t have to do the mile. And they have their favorite classes only. There’s five people who said Friday because it is the last day of the week due to the calm feeling.

Our next question is “What has been the biggest change from 5th Grade to 6th?” Many people said having to switch from class to class, second they said the change in homework and school work amount, and last P.E. because you're being timed. And last but not least ‘’Has P.E. been a struggle since Elementary Schools are accustomed to once a week where at Taylor 4 times a week minimum?” To my surprise almost everyone said no, one person said sometimes but aprt from that everyone had their different reasons on why P.E isn't difficult.I asked this question because when I was in the start of 6th grade I found P.E difficult to adjust to.

Thank you everyone who read this tiny informational article, and thank you to all the sixth graders who did the survey. It was a great help to me.

Yours Truly,

Emilio Hernandez
