How do I join AVID?
REGISTRATION INFORMATION PAGE
The AVID elective course is aimed at students who are traditionally under-served in college, particularly those who would be first in their family to attend college; however, AVID is open to all students who wish to apply.
The Registration Portal will open in Infinite Campus from December 3, 2021 - December 12, 2021 4pm. If you register for AVID, you will receive an application via your Mililani High School Gmail account.
Who is eligible for avid?
Students who meet one or more of the following criteria:
Average to high test scores
Cumulative GPA of 2.5-3.7
Desire and determination
Good attendance and citizenship
First in family to attend college
From a historically under-served group not represented at four-year colleges
Special Circumstances in which student would benefit from support
Students accepted into the AVID program must have a strong desire to go to college and be willing to put in the time and effort to reach that goal.
**After registering for the AVID elective, an application will be sent to your Mililani High School Gmail account to complete the process. Registration alone does not guarantee entry to the elective.
AVID IS NOT
AVID is not a remedial or at-risk program. It is a program designed to support students who would otherwise not attend a four-year university to attend and to graduate from a four-year school.
AVID is not a school within a school or a quick fix.
AVID is not for the consistently D or F student.
AVID is not for students who don't do any of their homework.
AVID is not for unmotivated students. They must have individual determination.
