Welcome to Mililani High AVID

AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination and is an internationally recognized college-readiness system designed to increase the number of students who enroll and persist in four-year colleges and universities. AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and other post-secondary opportunities.

Students in the AVID elective learn peer collaboration skills, questioning strategies, goal setting, motivation through guest speakers and field trips, organizational habits, and the Cornell note-taking method. Socratic based study groups are also an integral part of the learning process and to support students as they take on Pre-AP/AP level classes.
