Homework

Monday-Friday: Reading homework. A minimum of about 15-20 minutes of reading are expected each night. If it is difficult to have consistent reading, You may opt to have a reading log that gets initialed by a parent each night.

Monday-Thursday: Math homework. This is always based on the classwork for the day, so check the folder for the day's lesson if you need a reminder or a model for the homework. If we have a math test, there is no math homework. If there were no special circumstances, assume there WAS a bit of homework.

Once in a while there will be homework where your child acts as "the teacher". Please allow him or her to teach you about the new concept they learned about in school. Homework is always meant to be just practice work based on what I already taught in class. I will never send home work that is unfamiliar.

Occasionally, I will send home a quick sheet based on the phonics patterns your child's group is currently working on.

The math work usually only takes 10-15 minutes. The Reading is 15- 20 minutes minimum.

OCCASIONALLY, IF WE HAVE AN ASSEMBLY OR A TRIP, THERE WILL BE NO HOMEWORK.
