About the teacher

I am the mother of four fantastic children. Meggie is a graduate of Fordham University where she owns 3 swimming records. She is a wedding photographer and a videographer. Mia is a graduate of Keene State College in New Hampshire. She is a physical education teacher and a personal trainer! My stepson, Rob, is a graduate of WestConn. He is a financial researcher and writer. My stepdaughter, Kelly, is a graduate of WestConn. She is an elementary school teacher.

I enjoy hiking, reading, photography, and antiquing. I also love to cook and bake. My husband and I love to garden together.

I LOVE my job! Teaching is a second career for me. I started out with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication with a minor in Psychology. I hated the jobs I had in the business world. After my children were old enough to be home without me, I went back to school and earned my Master's Degree in Education. I have also completed my sixth year as a classroom specialist. I have taught grades 1, 2, 3 and 5 in Milford Schools. I feel so lucky to go to school each day. My students and staff friends are my second family!

Mission for the Class

The following quotation credited to Socrates sums up my teaching philosophy:

"Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel". I strive to meet the diverse needs of each student while covering all the important curriculum. Whenever possible, I incorporate student interests to enhance learning. During our year long adventure together we will learn a lot and laugh a lot as well!
